Awesome Thing - Rock, Paper, Scissors

Today's awesome thing of the day is an age old game: rock, paper scissors. Actually, I don't know how old the game is...

(time passes)

Okay I checked on wikipedia. Basically, no one knows, but it was popularized in the later 1900s in Japan. Now that you've learned something, have an demotivational poster as an award:

Seconds before they're all covered by a huge piece of paper.

I've always thought people played rock, paper, scissor (RPS) to pass the time, much like Chinese checkers or picking your nose. However, I've found out that some people actually take this game seriously. In fact, there's a whole study of advanced techniques of the game.

Advanced RPS (http://www.worldrps.com/advanced.html) details it. Reading it will make you smarter, guaranteed. I mean, just look at it!
The Character of Scissors
Scissors are a tool. As children, we use them to cut construction paper for craft projects. As adults, we may cut cloth for clothing or use scissors to open plastic packaging. Scissors are associated with industry, craft work, making things. There is still a certain amount of aggression associated with scissors; they are, after all, sharp and dangerous implements. Scissors, however, represent aggression that is controlled, contained, re-channeled into something constructive. In RPS, scissors are often perceived as a clever or crafty throw, a well-planned outflanking maneuver. As such, players are more likely to use scissors when they are confident or winning.
You feel that? That's your brain growing.

The Official List of the Best Things in Existence

1.4.3 FTW
Here at Whoa Awesome, we are constantly on the look out for awesome things. So when I cam across this list, I knew it was a winner. So today's Awesome Thing of the Day is a list all the best things in existence. Not a small task to write that list, which is why I didn't. The fine folks at Uncyclopedia made it.

The Official List of the Best Things in Existence (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_Official_List_of_the_Best_Things_in_Existence) contains the best things since God to Eminem. And the best thing is, since it's a wiki, you can edit it all to oblivion!

A sample entry goes something like this:

Sandals

1,500 BC-47 BC
Sandals were a universal godsend, as nearly every culture on earth discovered them around the same time, all giving positive reviews. The Hebrews said “Whether wandering in the desert for forty years, running from our captors or defeating our would-be oppressors, sandals keep our feet comfortable.” The popular Roman advertisements claimed “Sandals: Jvst do it!” Even the Japanese, on the other side of the world, noted “The sandal prevents our feet from turning hard and calloused like that of a dog.”
People have way too much time on their hands.

Wow. I just realized this is the first post that doesn't have the world "awesome" in the title. Sign of the apocalypse.

Awesome Website - Passive Aggressive Notes

Today's awesome thing of the day is Passive Aggressive Notes (http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/)

The site is filled with mildly threatening messages, in paper form. Perfect for when you're feeling angry, but are too scared to show it. Hey boss! I'm secretly flicking you off underneath my coat.

A couple examples. Way more at the website:

Blue and pink is so mildly threatening.

Right after writing this note, she stole all the pens and ran.

Here's a really funny one, but it has explicit language. So, click if you dare (but it's so fricking funny!)

Awesome Flash Game - Nanaca Crash

I wonder what game this could be a screen shot of...
 Infomercial Time!
Are you feeling angry? Did your boyfriend act really douchey today? Do you want to go out and hit someone with your bicycle sending them flying 20 meters into the air? If so, you'll love the awesome of this day!

The Awesome of the Day for September 11th is the flash game Nanaca†Crash (http://megami.starcreator.com/nanaca-crash/). The premise of the game is simple: hit a dude with a bike, then make him travel as far as possible. It's basically the best penguin launch flash game, ever. Why?

1. Anime Girls
That are based on an adult PC game. For all you perves, (pervs?) that should be enough already.

2. The Epic Special Attacks
In the game, there are many people standing around, waiting for falling man meat to come and crash into them. But do you think they just get hit and die, as logic would dictate? No, this is a Japanese game silly! They punch the guy into the frickin' air!

What's really in the center of the sun: Asian people
Double-kick-punch-molestation-no-jutsu!

3. Gotta beat that score...
This game is addictive. Once you start playing it, your free time will just fly by. It's the perfect mix of luck and reflexes that makes crack seem positively boring. Play it now, play it forever.

And if you want a score to beat, just look at mine. Pretty beast, no?

Play it, love it, eat it for breakfast.
See you on the highscores!

Awesome Asian Erasers

WARNING: Not all of these are Asian, but all of them are erasers. I promise on the life of my dead half-uncle. (Half of them are totally American. Sucks to be you Uncle John!)

Now then, the Awesome Thing of the Day for September 10th is, Asian Erasers! What is it about erasers that just make us squeal in delight? And what makes the Asian ones so fricking cute? I half expect them to be bombs in disguise, they're so adorable.

Okay, enough hype. Here are... Korean Erasers, presented by Whoa Awesome.

Average until you realize it's also a four piece puzzle!

You know you're hardcore when you have enough fake food to feed a small army.

Holy sh*t...

WHY MUST PEOPLE LOVE WASTING MONEY?!?

Awesome Website - ToneMatrix

Awesome of the Day for September 9th is the website ToneMatrix (http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix). It's a little flash app that lets you create music just by filling in blocks. The beat line goes across the columns and the blocks are like notes. The higher you place them, the higher pitched the sound is. Sound confusing? Then you're stupid, because it's easy and AWESOME. Perhaps a visual would help?

This is the future. Okay, maybe not but it's cool

Yes, that is a poorly drawn Mario jumping over a poorly drawn pipe to a poorly drawn question mark block. And yes, I made that.

Copy The Music, Literally
Another cool feature about ToneMatrix is that you can literally copy your tune and paste other people's tunes. How? Just right click on the app and click "Copy". Mind. Blown.

My Mario image / tune is this code, for example:
65536,65536,66076,80628,69524,80532,66292,69660,126976,126976,127230,69882,65706,65762,65790,65536
Just copy that and paste it into the app.

Secret Awesomeness!
Here's another code for a super secret message.
11166,10890,11934,8192,12190,10384,12184,8208,12190,8320,12222,8362,12194,8192,12160,10880

What is it? If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret, would it? The correct answer is "No, it wouldn't", BTW.
